■ 10.23 Yamakoshi - 20 Years After the Earthquake
On October 23, the “10.23 Yamakoshi Gathering” has been held in Yamakoshi, Niigata Prefecture, marking an important milestone to reflect on the 20 years since the Chuetsu Earthquake. 20 years ago, the Chuetsu Earthquake had a serious impact on Yamakoshi and the surrounding areas, and is still deeply remembered by many people. On that day, a total of 20 digital villagers came together in Yamakoshi.
This year again, the event was designed so that those who could not go to Yamakoshi could participate online, and the thoughts and feelings of Yamakoshi were delivered to the rest of the country in a way that connected the real and digital worlds. Warm messages and prayers were exchanged, and it was a precious time to discuss the recovery of the region and hopes for the future.
In the past 20 years, Yamakoshi has made great strides in its recovery, and the Nishikigoi NFT project was initiated as a result of the Chuetsu Earthquake. Yamakoshi has a strong desire to “let as many people as possible know about and be involved in Yamakoshi.
We hope that this “10.23 Yamakoshi” was an opportunity to look back on the path taken and to look forward to the future together with the digital villagers and local people who support the community. The ceremony, which showed the gratitude and renewed determination of the people of Yamakoshi for their recovery, provided an opportunity to reaffirm the warmth and strength of the people of Yamakoshi, and we believe that this sentiment was conveyed to many people through both real and digital media.
Next year, new challenges for the future of Yamakoshi will continue. We look forward to taking the next step forward together with the digital villagers and all those connected to Yamakoshi. We look forward to sharing the charms of Yamakoshi with even more people and moving forward together with the community.
