■ The Challenge to Help Preserve Diverse Cultures and Communities
This week, we have posted a new article in Japanese about how we at Crypt Village have met Yamakoshi, had many experiences over the years, and how we are planning to get involved with the community in the future. The one we posted this week was in Japanese but we have another post here for English speakers. Please take a look!
■ Community Voting Results of Neo Yamakoshi Village
The results of the vote on the "Establishment of Neo Yamakoshi Village," which ran from November 13-November 19 of this month, have been announced. The voting result is as follows.
Yamakoshi Residents: 127 votes in favor
Digital villagers: 382 votes in favor
Based on the results of the vote, "Establishment of Neo-Yamakoshi Village" was approved by a majority vote. Thank you to everyone who voted! This was actually the first Nishikigoi NFT community vote after the third mint, and more than 300 real Yamakoshi residents and digital villagers participated in the vote, which means a lot to us. We hope you enjoy the future of Neo-Yamakoshi Village!
We had a lot of cheers and support from the residents as two years have passed since the launch of our NFTs. A new chapter of our journey to create the future of "us" together is now about to begin. Thank you very much for all of your support!(Haruka Takeuchi)
■ Presentation of the Minister of Internal Affairs and Communications Award to Nagaoka City
Last month, Nishikigoi NFT and the former Yamakoshi DAO (now Neo Yamakoshi Village) received the 2023 Minister of Internal Affairs and Communications Award for advanced depopulation measures. We met Mayor Tatsunobu Isoda of Nagaoka City and had a briefing session to tell him about the award.
■ ABEMA Prime News TV Show
On the 21st of this month, Atsushi Hayashi, co-founder of Crypto Village, and Haruka Takeuchi were joining the ABEMA Prime TV news show. ABEMA Prime is one of the big internet media in Japan and we’re so grateful to get the opportunity.
<What is a Marginalized Village?>
Marginal villages are defined as villages where depopulation, declining birthrates, and aging populations have reached the point where more than 50% of the population is 65 years old or older, meaning that the community has reached the limit of its ability to maintain its functions.
Of Japan's 70,000 villages, more than 20,000 are now marginalized. What can we do to preserve the traditional culture of these communities while accepting this fact?We introduced Nishikigoi NFT and talked about a new way of being in the community that combines NFT and local communities.
■ Tokyo Food Generative Lab, WIRED Japan
The founder Atsushi Hayashi joins "Tokyo Food Generative Lab", the official podcast of WIRED Japan, which introduces the possibilities and new movements shaping the future with "food" as they explore the next step toward a regenerative lifestyle, society, and city through food, under the theme of “Developing Pluralistic indicators for the local community.”
