■ LOCAL NETWORK — Community beyond the place

We are happy to share that our exhibition, “LOCAL NETWORK — Community beyond the place,” recently held at NEORT++ in Bakurocho, Tokyo, has successfully come to a close.

To everyone who visited us at the gallery, and to those who supported us from afar via social media and this newsletter—thank you so much. Your presence and encouragement truly made this event special.

Bringing the Local DAO into a Physical Space

At the center of this exhibition was the Shiiba Kagura NFT, which we launched last month. Our goal was to take the concept of the “Local DAO”—a new way of building regional communities—and give it a physical presence in the heart of the city.

The highlight of the gallery was the digital art created in collaboration with artist Hiroyuki Hori. By 3D-scanning an 800-year-old sacred performance using an 8-camera setup, we were able to reconstruct the movements of the “Shiiba Kagura” into a dynamic visual experience.

Seeing the performers motions emerge from the darkness of the gallery, we felt the atmosphere of the “hidden” Shiiba Village fill the room. It was an experience that vibrated through the body—something that goes far beyond what a computer screen can convey.

A Community Without Borders

True to our theme, “Community beyond the place,” the exhibition brought together an incredible mix of people: our “Digital Villagers,” art enthusiasts, and those passionate about the future of rural Japan.

It was a powerful moment to see people from such diverse backgrounds connect over shared values and a deep respect for tradition. Through this exhibition, a new vision for regional Japan started to take shape—one where we are no longer limited by physical distance or geography, but are instead linked by a common purpose.

This exhibition was just one milestone in our journey. We look forward to continuing this story with you as we explore the intersection of ancient tradition and the digital world.
